My name is Meredith Butenhoff, and I am a 14-year old girl with a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). EDS causes me to have pain and fatigue and a lot of dizziness when a I sit or stand for any length of time.
I want to do things with my family and friends just like any other 14-year old. My service dog will wear a harness and make me more mobile by providing me support when standing and walking. It will also carry books, pick up dropped items and bark for help if I need it. EDS is progressive, and it is important that I keep mobile even when it is difficult. With my service dog, I will be able to do more and stay stronger and healthier.
Thanks to everyone who helped me meet my team training goal of $5,000! My PAALS’ dog will change my life and now I want to help PAALS help others. I’ve set a goal to raise $25,000 to help PAALS’ cover the $22,000 – $29,000 it costs to raise and train a service dog for each client they help. Your donation will contribute to PAALS’ general operating budget.
